MI vs CSK Dream11 Prediction: Mumbai Indians vs Chennai Super Kings Best Dream11 Team

MI vs CSK Dream11 Team, Probable Playing XI, Toss, Pitch and Match Preview: IPL Heavyweights battle it out on a slow wicket at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi in Match No 27 of the VIVO IPL 2021.

The Big Picture

Both sides have won their first match in Delhi by 7 wickets. As usual the Champions have had a shaky start, whereas CSK have forgotten the horrific 2020 season and have started fresh. Coming into this game both sides have played 6 matches each which has allowed them to settle down with their team combinations. Mumbai have struggled to cross the line but have not been outplayed in any of the contests. Contrarily Chennai is on 5 matches winning streak. MI is the only team who has had a dominant performance against CSK. Overall, the two teams have competed on 30 occasions, with 18 wins MI are fairly ahead in the contest. Since 2018, MI have won 6 out of 8 matches that have been played which include the 2018 Qualifier and Final.

Mumbai Indians

The defending Champions are currently ranked 4th on the points table. Kieron Pollard and Pandya brothers have given away a massive advantage to the oppositions. Since 2018 on an average MI have scored 48 runs in the last 5 overs for the loss of 1 wicket, whereas this season they are settling for 38 runs and are losing 4 wickets. Bumrah & Co. have struggled with the new ball. MI have managed only 3 wickets in the power play overs. The only positive that MI can draw is Trent Boult who has picked up 5 wickets during the death overs with an economy rate of 7.39. With all this drama around the MI camp, one should not forget that MI is the only team who has dominated against CSK. Despite of a trembling start Mumbai Indians walk in as favorites to win this tie.

Chennai Super Kings

Over the last three seasons CSK batsmen have struggled against MI. The average batting score falls to 142 for the loss of 7 wickets. This mainly is due to poor starts against MI, CSK on an average have scored only 39 runs for the loss of 3 wickets during the power play. In the last three seasons top 5 CSK batsmen have managed to score only 553 runs at an average of 69.12. So far this season Ruturaj Gaikwas and Faf du Plessis have provided them an excellent start and MI’s poor performance during the power play might just work as an advantage for the two batsmen. Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni who have had a quiet start need to step up in this game.

Pitch Condition and Toss

Referring to MS Dhoni’s post-match presentation against SRH there was no dew on the ground. The Delhi wicket seemed to get better and better as the match progressed. Both sides have won a game chasing a target at this venue. Side winning the toss will opt to bowl first. 190 looks like a par score on this ground.

MI vs CSK Dream11 Wicket Keeper

Looking at the current form Quinton de Kock is my first-choice keeper batsman. Since 2019 de Kock has scored 135 runs against CSK with a strike rate of 132.35. Moreover, Dhoni’s poor run has made my decision easy.

MI vs CSK Dream11 Batsmen

Looking at the batting strength I am anticipating a high scoring game and that's why I have invested heavily in front line batsmen from both sides. Faf du Plessis and Rohit Sharma are my first-choice batsmen. Du Plessis has been in a great form and has given CSK the desired start so far, Sharma is MI’s leading run scorer and has scored 182 in last 5 innings against CSK. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Suryakumar Yadav are the other two batsmen in my squad, as they are their sides second highest run scorers. Apart from playing long innings both batsmen can score quick runs.

MI vs CSK Dream11 All-Rounders

I have selected three CSK left-handed all-rounders in my squad. Moeen Ali is my first-choice all-rounders who is a top order batsman and can be handy bowler. So far Ali has scored 148 runs and picked up 4 wickets in 5 matches. Ali can score quick runs especially against fast bowlers. Ravindra Jadeja is my second all rounder who can take the game away from the opposition in no time. We witnessed this in the CSK vs RCB match, Sir Jadeja hammered the best bowler of the series for 37 runs in the last over. Jadeja in an effective bowler during the middle overs of the game. Sam Curran is the third all-rounder in my squad who played a blistering knock of 52 runs last time the two sides collided. Curran can pick up wickets with the new ball as well as in the death overs.

MI vs CSK Dream11 Bowlers

Rahul Chahar is my first-choice bowler, for his wicket taking abilities during the middle overs. However Due to credit constraints, I am unable to fit in Bumrah, Boult and Ngidi. I have settled for Nathan Coulter-Nile and Jayant Yadav. With 4 left-handed batsmen in the CSK squad Yadav is expected to be effective.

MI vs CSK Dream11 Captain and Vice-Captain

Captain: Rohit Sharma and Faf du Plessis

Vice-Captain: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali
