IPL Match 43 RCB VS RR Match Preview: The Battle between the team in form versus the inconsistent

IPL Match 43 RCB VS RR Match Preview: The Battle between the team in form versus the inconsistent.

The Big Picture

A Big big match tonight, RR win will take them to 10 points like MI and KKR that will keep them alive in the hope of being amongst the top 4 teams. In case of RCB, they win or lose they will remain at number 3 position itself.

Head to Head

Overall, RCB have won 11 and RR have won 10 out of the 24 matches played amongst them, remaining 3 games had no result. In recent past RCB have dominated RR winning 3 out of the last 4 games played which includes 1st leg's encounter which RCB won comfortably.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

RCB had a fantastic start in IPL 2021, they won a lot of games in the first leg and hence despite losing couple of games in the second leg they are well placed at no position on IPL table. The Skipper- Virat Kohli has scored two 50’s in a row and is slowly getting to his best again. D Padikkal has been a fantastic find for RCB; he has been playing sublimely ever since he got introduced as opener for them. The biggest positive for RCB is Maxwell’s return to form, he not only scored 51 runs at a strike rate of 151 but also picked up 2 wickets against MI. When it comes to their bowling H Patel is by far their best bowler this season, infact he is the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2021 with 23 wickets. Also, when we talk about RCB how can we not mention AB de Villiers; he hasn’t fired all cylinders so far but if he too joins the party it could spell doom for the oppositions.

Rajasthan Royals

In the beginning of second leg of this season RR started with a famous win against PBKS where the youngster- K Tyagi defended 4 runs in the final over but they lost the following two matches against DC and SRH. So far RR are heavily relying on S Samson to score runs after the exit of J Buttler. The players like E Lewis and L Livingstone haven’t lived up to their reputation so far for RR. Y Jaiswal has been playing decent knocks at the top of the order but he needs to convert those little starts into big ones to be really effective. C Morris is their top wicket-taker followed by Rahman and C Sakariya. Overall, although their bowlers are amongst the wickets but none of them have been able to bowl economically. They would want to contain RCB power packed batting line-up to have any chance of winning today’s match. S Gopal might have a look in this match though because he has a splendid record against RCB, he has picked up 14 wickets and given away runs at an economy of just 6.50 runs per over.

Pitch Conditions and Toss

The match will be played on Dubai International Stadium and so far 5 matches have been played here with sides batting second losing 3 out of the 5 games played in here. This stat shows that sides batting 1st has slight advantage over the sides chasing but in reality it would be a good toss to lose because wicket plays almost evenly in both the innings.
