PK vs CSK Dream11 Prediction: Punjab Kings vs Chennai Super Kings Best Dream11 Team

PK vs CSK Dream11Team, Probable Playing XI, Toss, Pitch and Match Preview: Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings square off to crack the Wankhede code in match no 8 of the Vivo IPL 2021.

The biggest challenge this season for teams is to play away from home. Like the others, CSK have built their bowling attack surrounding spinners. This suits them at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium; the same bowling attack turns obsolete on wickets like Wankhede. Punjab Kings had a narrow escape from Samson on the slot in their opening game. PK bowlers have also struggled in the bowling department. Overseas T20 specialist Jhye Richardson and Riley Meredith conceded 104 runs in 8 overs and picked up just 2 wickets.

Punjab Kings

Despite winning on the last ball of the match; PK there were many positives, like KL Rahul batting at a strike rate of 182, Chris Gayle getting to amongst runs, Deepak Hooda’s flamboyant innings boosting PK’s score and Arshdeep Singh bowling his heart out in the death overs. PK have the flexibility of using Hooda and Pooran according to the situation. Death bowling has been a major concern for Punjab and brings in Chris Jordan might change fortunes against CSK on Friday.

Chennai Super Kings

The “Dad Army” lacks a genuine quick bowler who can bowl consistently clock 140+ km/hr. Unfortunately, Ngidi and Behrendorff who can do that are still unavailable due to mandatory quarantine. Dwayne Bravo and Sam Curran with their variations can prove effective, while Thakur and Chahar need to be bowled out before the 15th over. While batting, CSK showed a positive intent by promoting Moeen Ali to number 3 - this mover certainly eased off some pressure from Raina. The two left-handers kept on attacking despite losing wickets at the other end.

Pitch Conditions and Toss

The pitch looks a batting paradise. Bowlers who offer a change of pace will have a chance to pick wickets. The side winning the toss will opt to bowl first to take advantage of the dew factor.

PK vs CSK Dream11 Wicketkeepers

KL Rahul is my first-choice wicketkeeper batsman for the form he has been in. The previous knock against RR came at a great pace. Ever since he has taken the finisher's role for India, he has been scoring in quick succession. Nichola Pooran is my second-choice keeper batsman for his ability to score freely in any situation. I am selecting him over MS Dhoni for the clarity he has with his role and lack of off-spinners in the CSK bowling unit.

PK vs CSK Dream11 Batsman

Suresh Raina and Chris Gayle are the obvious choices for me for the fact that both can score big hits consistently and both of them bat higher up the order. Faf du Plessis who missed out in the first game can easily start afresh; du Plessis scored 135 runs against Punjab Kings last season at a strike rate of 157.4. Ruturaj Gaikwad and Deepak Hooda are the other two batsmen in my squad. Both these batsmen coincidently scored 62 runs for respective teams the last time both teams collided. Deepak Hooda has already given us glimpses of how destructive he can be.

PK vs CSK Dream11 All-Rounders

Since I have invested heavily in the batsmen’s category, I can only have one All-rounder. I have selected Sam Curran over Jadeja and Ali for the variations he can bowl with. More importantly he bowls during the death overs where he is more likely to pick up wicket. In addition to that he is no mug with the bat he has been batting at a strike rate of 131 in the IPL.

PK vs CSK Dream11 Bowlers

Arshdeep Singh who played a massive role in Punjab’s win over Rajasthan is my first-choice bowler. Dwayne Bravo is second on the list. I have selected these two bowlers for the variations they offer and their abilities to pick wickets during the death overs. Mohammed Shami who has always being amongst wickets is the third bowler in my squad.

Captain and Vice-Captain

Captain: KL Rahul and Suresh Raina who have had an excellent first game are expected to replicate their performance. Moreover, these two bat higher up the order and have the opportunity to play longer innings.

Vice-Captain: Chris Gayle and Faf du Plessis too bat higher up the order, vast experience at international level and abilities to score quick runs makes them excellent options for the Vice-Captain position
