IPL Match 24 & 25: KKR defeat KXIP by 2 runs and RCB defeat CSK by 37 runs

On 10th October 2020, two games were played. In the afternoon KKR toppled KXIP while in the evening RCB defeated CSK.

 

Match 1: KKR VS KXIP

 

1st Innings: Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR): 164/6 (20 overs)

2nd Innings: Kings XI Punjab (KXIP): 162/2 (20 overs)

 

In the first match, KKR scored 164 runs in the first innings. S Gill and D Karthik were the top scorers for them while E Morgan played a cameo.


In reply, KXIP had a fantastic start both their openers scored 50+ scores. They were comfortably placed at 115 for no loss up until 11.1 overs. The game started drifting away from KXIP after the fall of the wicket of M Agarwal. KL Rahul got out in the 19th overs when the team score was 151. In the last over, KXIP needed 14 runs to win unfortunately they could manage only 12 runs off the last over.

Match 2 : RCB VS CSK

 

1st Innings: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB): 169/4 (20 overs)

2nd Innings: Chennai Super Kings (CSK): 132/8 (20 overs)

 

The first innings was all about Kohli he almost single-handedly helped his team post a decent score of 169. D Padikkal and S Dube played cameos to support their captain.


In reply, CSK lost their man in form Faf du Plessis in the fourth over at a team score of 19. Watson followed him in the 6th over when he got out at the team score of 25. W Sundar was the man who took both the wickets. He has been economical throughout the series but today he also was amongst the wickets. A Rayudu along with Jagadeesan built a partnership of 65 runs of 49 balls before Jagadeesan got out on the 50th ball. At this stage CSK required 81 runs off 34 balls which in itself was a mammoth task, someone had to play a Herculean innings to take them through which never happened.

Player of the Match

 

D Karthik was declared the man of the match in the match between KKR and KXIP.

V Kohli was declared Man of the Match in the game between RCB and CSK.

 

Overall, a fantastic day of cricket, while the first match was a nail-biter the second ended up being a one-sided affair.

Now, with RCB and KKR winning their 6th match, we have 3 teams with 8 points each in the points table.
