Match Score

1st Innings: Sunrisers Hyderabad: 164/5 (20 overs)

2nd Innings: Chennai Super Kings (CSK): 157/5 (20 overs)

SRH had a disastrous start while batting, they lost J Bairstow in the first over itself. D Warner & M Pandey stuck around to score 46 runs together before Pandey got out. Thereafter SRH lost 2 early wickets and all their main batsmen were back to the pavilion at the team score of 69. The Youngsters P Garg and A Sharma resurrected SRH innings to help them score 164 runs.

In reply, CSK's opening batsmen woos continued, they lost S Watson early, soon after A Rayudu got out followed by Faf du Plessis and K Jadhav. At this point, it looked like CSK wouldn't even be able to play 20 overs. Here is when Jadeja and Dhoni got together and knit a partnership of 72 to give CSK outside chance but Jadeja fell and the task looked improbable again. In the end, Dhoni faced health issues on the pitch but somehow batted through the innings, although he couldn't help his team win the match.

Player of the Match

P Garg was chosen the man of the match for his innings of 51 not out.

Captain's Corner

M Dhoni:

In the field, Dhoni rotated his bowlers pretty well, and he did make use of his resources efficiently. Bravo getting back in the side made this side look much stronger in the field. His decision of promoting Faf might have failed in this match but that is the only option they are left with at this moment of time.

D Warner:

The trust that Warner had in P Garg finally paid the dividend. D Warner's main bowlers Bhuvi and Rashid performed well as expected and he didn't have too much to worry about up until Bhuvi got injured in the 19th over and he took right decision to use his next best bowler K Ahmed in that over.

Overall, SRH must be very satisfied with the way they won the match. The good thing about this win is that their lower batting order clicked when needed. For CSK, their struggle in this campaign continues and their batsmen have to perform better to turn their fortunes.
