Top Players of KKR and MI

KKR:

  • A Russell: He has not been at his best with the bat for KKR this season. He has scored only 71 runs so far in this tournament. When we talk about his bowling, he has been expensive but has also picked up wickets. He has the bowling strike rate of 14 which is 3rd best in this year's edition and a personal best in his IPL career.

  • D Karthik: Apart from his match-winning performance of 58 against KXIP he has been abysmal with the bat. He is a much better batsman than his performance this year. He seriously needs to be consistent with the bat to add more depth to the KKR batting line up.

  • S Narine: The mystery spinner from West Indies has struggled to find his form with the ball. The good news is that in the previous few matches he has looked pretty dangerous with the ball. The bad news though, is that he has been reported for chucking and maybe that is why he was sitting out in the previous match. It is to be seen if he is going to play in today's match, after maybe checking on his action after sitting out for a match.

  • S Gill: He has been KKR's most bankable batsmen in this edition. He has scored 254 runs at an average of 42.33 and a strike rate of 119.24 for them. If he can up his strike rate a notch he could become more dangerous as the player.

MI:

  • R Sharma: He was a star performer in the previous match against KKR. His form with the bat has been fluctuating but whenever his batting clicks his team usually wins. So far in this tournament, he has scored 216 runs at a strike rate of 137.57 and the average of 30.85.

    • K Pollard: The go-to finisher for MI is easily the most in-form batsman of the team. His Strike rate of 189.13 this season is his best ever! Apart from his dismissal against CSK in the first match, he is yet to be dismissed. If we look from KKR's point of view, he doesn't have a great record against them, he scores at the strike rate of 120 and averages 27 against them. These numbers could have been termed good for some other players but when we keep Pollard in mind these numbers look sub-standard.

  • J Bumrah: Bumrah has been a touch expensive this season but has won a few matches for MI as well. This is the second time in this tournament that MI is going to play in Dubai. The last time Bumrah bowled at Dubai, he gave away 42 runs and didn't pick up any wicket. He would want to improve his performance on this ground.

  • Q de Kock: He started decently against CSK but struggled for runs in the following matches. In the last three, he has scored 53, 23 & 67 (with 53 being the most recent). MI would hope that his recently found form stays up until the end of the tournament.

  • H Pandya: He has played a few attractive cameos for MI but hasn't really got a chance to play a match-defining innings yet. If we talk about his performance against KKR, he has an excellent record. He has scored 263 runs at a strike rate of 196.26 and an average of 65.75!

Likely Playing 11

Mumbai Indians have played some mind-blowing cricket in this tournament. It is going to be a tough match for KKR although they have many match-winners in their team. Right now, I am super excited about the game and I hope you are as well.
