Chennai Super Kings (SRH) take on Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the second battle of the day. If we look at their record in IPL 2020, both the teams have played in four matches and have managed to win only one game.
Head to Head
The Head to Head between these two teams is slightly in favour of CSK.
In total, they have played twenty-one matches out of which CSK have won 12 and KXIP have won 9 games.
If we look at their last four meetings, they have won 2 matches each.
Squads
Top Players of CSK and KXIP
CSK:
MS Dhoni: He looks like a helpless captain without his key man S Raina with the bat and H Singh with the ball. He has played a couple of decent knocks at the end of the innings while chasing for his team but those knocks were mainly meaningless because in neither of those innings he looked good enough to win his team the match.
A Rayudu: He played a match-winning knock in the first match against MI got out early in the previous match. So far it is 50:50 for him for now, he needs to fire with the bat for CSK regularly to create an impact of his performance to the team.
S Watson: To say the least his batting has looked scratchy in this edition of IPL. He has looked a spent force in most of his innings. CSK does not have many options at the top and might stick with him in today's match as well. He needs to fire for CSK to be able to win more games.
Faf du Plessis: He is the only batsman in the CSK team who has performed well in every match. He was asked to open the batting with S Watson in the previous match and looks like he will continue doing so in this match as well.
S Curran: He is one player from CSK who has shown enough promise to perform with the bat as well as with the ball for CSK but hasn't done anything extravagant as yet to make a major impact to the result of the match.
KXIP:
C Gayle: KL Rahul and M Agarwal have done great as openers and because of this he has been sitting out. But if we look at KXIP's middle-order batting it has been mediocre, Maxwell has struggled with the bat hence there are chances that Gayle, M Agarwal and KL Rahul play at 1,2 and 3.
KL Rahul: He has played well as a batsman so far in the tournament. He along with M Agarwal is the best batsman of the team, but as a captain, at times, one needs to take tough decisions. KXIP's middle-order has looked fragile and hence as specified before he might well have to sacrifice his batting position to bolster their middle order.
M Agarwal: One of the most consistent players for team India in test cricket has been equally consistent in the shortest format of the game. He has looked solid every time he has come in to bat. He could have scored much more against MI if he wouldn't have been on the receiving end of the perfect Yorker from Bumrah.
M Shami: He is amongst the top wicket-takers in the tournament along with Y Chahal and K Rabada. All three bowlers have picked up 8 wickets each. His strike rate is the best when compared with the other two top wicket-takers. It is a no brainer that he should play a big role in this match as well.
S Cottrell: He bowled a pinch of delivery to get rid of Q de Kock in the previous match against MI. While other bowlers were expensive on that day he was the most economical for KXIP. Apart from the bashing, he received in the match against RR his bowling figures of 17/2, 24/2 & 20/1 in the other three matches are phenomenal.

Other Players to watch
R Bishnoi (KXIP): He remains a player to be watched because of his consistent bowling for KXIP.
R Jadeja (CSK): He batted very well against SRH in the previous match but he has to perform well with the ball as well. With KXIP's middle-order struggling to get going he might manage to bowl a few good overs for CSK today.
G Maxwell(KXIP): With the number of opportunities that he has received so far, he should have made it count already. If he is selected in today's match as well then he needs to perform else KXIP should look for other options.
On the basis of performance in this edition, KXIP has looked slightly better than CSK. KXIP could have easily won 2 matches if they could have played well in the super over against DC. CSK is struggling to find an appropriate playing eleven as of now but in T20 cricket anything is impossible, we never know CSK might just surprise us all today.
